How you can help the UK markets sector to assess the impact of COVID-19
Across the UK many of our traditional markets remain closed, whilst those which continue to provide essential goods are doing so in conditions many would never have imagined a few short weeks ago. The change has been rapid and whilst some of the examples of best practice highlighted in our last blog post will hopefully benefit the sector in the long term (e.g. a range of new delivery services and wider adoption of contactless payment methods), there are fears as to if and how our markets will recover.
With this in mind, leading industry bodies are beginning to consider how they can support the recovery and represent the impact of COVID-19 crisis on traders and operators. In order to gather the information they need to lobby government these organizations are now calling on not just current members but the sector as a whole to share details of their current situation and help to build a nationwide picture.
For all traders (not just NMTF members): NMTF is undertaking a major survey to understand the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on the businesses of market, street, and events traders in the UK.

For all operators: NABMA's survey aims to collate the information needed to lobby on behalf of all market operators for further government financial assistance, so that markets can be successful relaunched when the time comes.
